Hi ladies! We’re one day away from Thanksgiving, and you may be thinking about how difficult it will be to not succumb to the pressure of all the good food and drinks you’ll be encountering tonight, tomorrow and throughout the rest of the holiday season. You may be thinking, “I can’t ________.” (Fill in the blank here: avoid my mom’s stuffing, not eat those delicious cookies, not have dessert, not stuff myself full of appetizers before the main course and eat that too!, etc.)

But guess what? You can. I’m not saying that you have to avoid everything that you find mouthwateringly delicious, but you can have one portion. You can have one small plateful of the appetizers without fully stuffing yourself. You can eat only one dessert. You can say, “No, thank you.” You can do what’s right for your body by stopping when you’re full, being gracious as a guest by politely declining things that you don’t want or you’re too full to fully enjoy, and by taking this chance to really listen to what your body is telling you. Remember your goals. Focus on them. Know that you can learn to know what your body needs and wants, and that you can fully support it with those things.

Remember to go to parties with a plan. How will you handle different situations? If you need a reminder, take a look at the Tips for Holiday Eating video I posted on Sunday. And if you have any questions, please let me know.
